The police found the culprit of the fire in the Chernobyl zone

The police identified an intruder, through whose fault 5 hectares of Kotovsky forestry were destroyed by fire on the territory of exclusion zones in the Kyiv region.

"It turned out to be a 27-year-old resident of the village of Ragovka. As the young man explained to the police, for fun, he set fire to garbage and grass in three places. After that, the fire was thrown further by the wind and he could no longer cope and put out the fire," the message says.

Law enforcement officers opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 245 (Destruction or damage to flora objects) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The issue of declaring suspicion to a young man is being resolved. The investigation is ongoing.
