UOC talks about harassment by 1+1 TV channel: details
The press service of the UOC reports that the video of the Kvartal 95 studio offends the religious feelings of Christians and is saturated with blasphemy.

On December 14, 2022, the annual diocesan meeting of the clergy of the Kyiv diocese was held in the church in honor of St. Anthony and Theodosius of the Caves of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. This is reported press service of the UOC and publishes an appeal to the 1 + 1 TV channel, which was adopted at this meeting.
In particular, the UOC appealed to the television and radio company "Studio 1 + 1", "Studio Quarter-95" and to Boris Shefir.
“For many years, the 1+1 TV channel has systematically poured out dirt on the clergy and believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. We, as believers, are aware of our imperfection, and therefore did not even respond to those accusations or attacks against us that were obviously false.
However, our Christian conscience tells us not to be silent when we see public contempt and blasphemy against God and faith, as was the case on the YouTube channel called "The Official Chisto News Channel" in the program "Bayraktar News # 104" of the studio "Kvartal 95 dated December 7, 2022. This story is riddled with blasphemy. Here we are talking not only about the Church, but also about faith in God as such, and therefore offends the religious feelings of Christians in our country. Verbal attacks against God, blasphemous sayings and ridicule are an attack on something more than just pointing out the sins or shortcomings of the clergy, ” says in the appeal of the UOC.
They also noted that some may believe in the existence of God, some may not, but insulting Christians - citizens of Ukraine - is a violation of the legislation and the Constitution of Ukraine and this incites religious hatred.
“We are all now fighting for an independent democratic Ukraine, so oppression, persecution, creating the image of an enemy from one group of citizens is unacceptable. We are all equal before the law, and any claims and accusations must be based on evidence and resolved in the legal field.
We understand that this video is part of a long-term campaign against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and its faithful. However, such slanders are the work of specific people who order and create such products and therefore manipulate public opinion. The technologies used are from the 30s and 60s of the XX century, created by the ideologists of the Great Terror and the repressions of the atheistic Soviet authorities against the Church. Today you are on a par with those whose consequences modern Ukraine is trying to overcome once and for all. Getting rid of the totalitarian past that we all strive for is impossible if the workers of the information and entertainment sphere allow themselves to neglect the rights of religious citizens, their dignity and religious feelings in such a brazen and cynical way.
We demand a public apology for this shameful release and remove it from the information space. Otherwise, we will regard this as a declared spiritual war on the multi-million flock of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and reserve the right to take the appropriate step for ourselves,” they say in the church.
