Ukrainian students want to start teaching how to handle weapons

Ukrainian schoolchildren must have basic skills in handling weapons and providing first aid. About it said Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation Sergei Babak.

According to him, the Ukrainian education system will quickly respond to current challenges - and the subject "Civil Defense" can be introduced in schools, and military training will also be carried out. It is planned that, regardless of gender, schoolchildren will be taught shooting, dismantling weapons, and told about the basics of tactical medicine.

“If everything works out, we will have a good symbiosis between the TPO system and the school. I believe that regardless of whether you are a boy or a girl, you should have basic skills in handling weapons and provide first aid.Babak said.

The issue of teaching schoolchildren driving skills is also discussed.

The official is not sure that these intentions will be realized already from this academic year, but, according to him, everything will definitely be in a year.

Students are already taught the basics of military affairs

In Ukraine in 10th and 11th grades being studied an item called "Protection of Ukraine" (in 2020 renamed from "Protection of the Fatherland").

In the textbook for grade 10, the basics of medical knowledge and pre-medical training are studied in detail, as well as the basics of civil protection and what emergencies happen and what to do when they occur.

But in textbooks for the 11th grade authorship of Gnatyuk, the basics of shooting from various types of pneumatic and small arms are taught, the types and rules for using grenades are described, as well as the methods of throwing them from trenches, the rules for the work of soldiers in combat groups, the basics of protecting civilians, etc.

That is, the basic and rather in-depth military training of schoolchildren is already being carried out, but, apparently, it is taught mainly at the level of theoretical knowledge, and therefore they intend to make it more thorough.

According to the Ministry of Education and Science, starting from the new academic year, topics on the rules of conduct with mines and explosive objects that can be accidentally stumbled upon in war conditions will be added to the “Protection of Ukraine” program.

Schools will start working offline from September

According to the Ministry of Education and Science, from September 1, Ukrainian pupils and students will return to offline learning. It is planned that all children, students and pupils will go to schools, universities and colleges of vocational technical education.

At the same time, the work of educational institutions in front-line settlements will depend on the security situation in the region.

Ранее сообщалосьthat only those schools that will meet the conditions of wartime will work - they must be equipped with shelters in case of shelling.

We also wrote about changes to the curriculum in literature, and told that in Ukraine they want to simplify the liquidation of schools in villages and increase the number of students in the classroom.
