Drone strikes on Russian airfields in Engels and Ryazan: what answer can be from the Russian Federation?
In this case, not just Russian military bases were attacked, but one of the nuclear triads of the Russian Federation - an air base.

Monday morning for Russia began with explosions at military airfields in Engels and Ryazan. The peculiarity of these airfields is that it is on them that the long-range strategic aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces is based, which, among other things, launches missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine. And now sabotage has taken place there, which will most likely lead to other consequences.
The air base near Engels in the Saratov region is one of the largest in Russia, where long-range aviation is located and the only one where Tu-160 strategic missile carriers are based. Cars are very expensive and hard to assemble. After a deep modernization in Kazan, on average, one such bomber is assembled per year.
And then one or more drones flew there (there are still no official statements), damaging two aircraft. Again, in the Russian Tg channels they write that these were most likely Tu-95MS, but this is still unreliable information. But we can definitely assume that if the drones were controlled by operators and could choose an object to strike, they would have hit the Tu-100 with a 160% probability. Therefore, what exactly is damaged at the Engels-2 airbase, and how severe the damage is, So far, the Russians remain under the heading of secrecy.
Satellite images are published on the Web, allegedly from the Engels airfield, which was attacked by a UAV.
The second airbase where something flew in is Diaghilevo near Ryazan. Long-range aviation is also based there, but only Tu-95 bombers for sure. And much more information has already come from there. During the “explosion” (in official Russian sources, it is the explosion that is referred to, and not the terrorist attack or attack) A fuel tanker caught fire, killing three people. Another five received injuries of varying severity. And it also mentions damage to "one aircraft."
In general, when there is such a simultaneous number of dead and wounded, it is difficult to assume that this is just a “fire”. Yes, and to assume that the simultaneous "ignition" at once at two air bases of the Russian Federation of long-range aviation, between which the distance is hundreds of kilometers, was something other than targeted sabotage, difficult.
Pictures from the airport "Dyagilevo" near Ryazan. The footage shows a Tu-22M3 bomber bomber damaged, allegedly as a result of a drone attack.
In Ukraine, comments about explosions at Russian air bases, of course, were not spared. And they did it traditionally so that it seems that Ukraine is not involved in this according to legal layouts, but with an indispensable wink and crossed fingers on display.
But still this story is not very simple at once in several directions. In this case, not just Russian military bases were attacked, but one of the nuclear triads of the Russian Federation - an air base. Long-range strategic aviation of Russia - it is a carrier of nuclear weapons. Moreover, each such heavy bomber, according to the protocol to the current START between Russians and Americans, is registered, and if one of them fails, the other signatory of this protocol must be notified within a week.
This is the first moment.
The second, and right now it is being dispersed across all the z-channels of the Russian Federation, is that Russia has an official reason to now use nuclear weapons in accordance with its own current doctrine. In particular, there is a clause on strikes on military targets that "will lead to the disruption of the retaliatory actions of nuclear forces."
But again, the likelihood of Russia using nuclear weapons still remains extremely minimal. According to the same military doctrine, the Russian Federation can use nuclear weapons in case of a threat to its territorial integrity, and after the “referenda” and the declaration of Kherson as its territory, the Kremlin has the option to use nuclear weapons at any time. But it is not used and it is unlikely that it will be used this time.
Well, the third point. From the front line to the same Engels at least 850 km. To Ryazan, and hence to Moscow even less. And there are already two options. Or “unknowns” attacked air bases from the territory of Russia itself. Or the “unknowns”, affiliated with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, have means of delivering ammunition over such vast distances.
We will not analyze the question of why Russian military facilities, which are also directly involved in the "special operation", are still so easily vulnerable after almost a year of war. These are the Kremlin's problems. Let us study another question - what will follow now.
Usually the Kremlin takes a break to “think about it” for about a day or two. But today everything is different - on the same day, massive missile strikes began in Ukraine with all the consequences: the loss of light, heat, water and the Internet. And we note that after November 23, Russia did not launch massive missile strikes any more. This indirectly indicates that Engels and Diaghilev were hit hard by the "unknowns".
And now millions of ordinary Ukrainians, who no longer have the elementary benefits of civilization, communications and the Internet, will feel the “response” for themselves. However, there are still “points of indestructibility” where the Ukrainians, if there is light, will be able to learn the latest events and once again "enjoy" the attack on Russian air bases.
