Putin and Shoigu made a number of statements about the nuclear triad

After the day before yesterday meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko , one of the expected events was the annual extended meeting of the collegium of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. In particular, there were suggestions that the President of the Russian Federation would make some statements regarding the war in Ukraine. But, perhaps, no sensational statements were made, except for those concerning the nuclear weapons of the Russian Federation.

Putin stressed that "the nuclear triad is the main guarantor of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Russia" and emphasized the need for its further improvement.

"We will continue to maintain the combat readiness and improve the combat readiness of the nuclear triad. This is the main guarantee of preserving our sovereignty and territorial integrity, strategic parity, and the overall balance of power in the world," - he said.

According to the President of the Russian Federation, the level of modern weapons in the nuclear triad is 91%

"This year, the level of modern weapons in the strategic nuclear forces has already exceeded 91 percent. The re-equipment of the Strategic Missile Forces regiments with a modern missile system with a hypersonic warhead "Avangard" continues," - he said.

Moreover, according to Putin in January 2023 of the year The frigate "Admiral Gorshkov" with hypersonic cruise missiles "Zirkon" will enter combat service.

The Russian leader drew the attention of the Minister of Defense, the Chief of the General Staff and all commanders to the fact that there are no restrictions on financing the army.

"The country, the government give everything that the army asks. Everything. I hope that the answer will be properly formulated and the corresponding results will be achieved," - Putin said.

What else did Putin say, speaking at the collegium of the Ministry of Defense:

• Today, the military potential of almost all NATO countries is used against Russia.
• In all territories of the Russian Federation, including the “new” ones, the safe life of our citizens will be ensured
• All information about the forces and means of NATO is well known, it should be analyzed and used for the development of the Russian Armed Forces
• The fighting has highlighted issues that we need to work hard on, as they say.
• Officers and sergeants who have gained experience in the NWO should be assigned to new positions as a matter of priority
• Mobilization revealed problems
• There is a need to develop and use drones in the army - they should be everywhere
• It is necessary to expand the arsenal of modern shock weapons in the Russian army
• 150 of the 300 mobilized are now being trained at training grounds, the other half are in the combat zone, this is enough for the SVO

In addition, Putin instructed the Ministry of Defense to be attentive to criticism addressed to him, "Even emotional, hear and respond in a timely manner.

After the President of the Russian Federation, the head of the defense department spoke Sergei Shoigu. He noted that "Russia is always open to constructive peace talks."  But at the same time, he said that the amount of funding this year made it possible to increase the supply of weapons to the Russian troops by 30%, in addition, according to him, in the interests of the “special operation”, the supply of weapons most in demand in the army was postponed from 2024-2025 to 2023 .

Shoigu noted the need to create a group of troops in the north-west of the country, as well as two interspecific strategic territorial associations of the armed forces - the Moscow and Leningrad military districts.

He also made a number of statements regarding the mobilization:

• Partial mobilization was carried out to "stabilize the situation, protect new territories and carry out further offensive actions."
• 300 thousand people were called up for partial mobilization, 830 thousand people were released from conscription to support the economy.
• More than 20 thousand people volunteered for the troops.
• We coped with the mobilization because we are a mature society, ready for such decisions.
• When recruiting the armed forces, it is necessary to gradually increase the age of conscription of citizens from 18 to 21 years, and raise the limit to 30 years.
• It is necessary to ensure the possibility, at the request of citizens, to enter military service under a contract or be called up from the first day of joining the service.

The head of the Russian defense department did not bypass the nuclear issue either. Yes, he stated that "The nuclear forces of the Russian Federation during the special exercise successfully worked out the tasks of delivering a massive nuclear strike in response to the use of weapons of mass destruction by the enemy," and also reported "that the Russian nuclear triad was replenished with the first Tu-160M ​​strategic bomber."

He also reported that “Given the desire of NATO to build up military potential near the Russian borders, as well as to expand the alliance through Finland and Sweden, retaliatory measures are required to create an appropriate grouping of troops in northwestern Russia. When recruiting the armed forces, gradually increase the age of conscription of citizens from 18 to 21 years, and increase the limit to 30 years.
