Poland against Ukrainian nationalists: the Polish prime minister called Putin the heir to the UPA

Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin - the successor of the Ukrainian nationalists. About it said Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki.

“Ukraine sees what nationalism and imperialism lead to, and that Putin is the heir to the organization of Ukrainian nationalists and the UPA, who is trying to lead the Russian world”, he wrote on his Facebook page.

Ukrainian-language social networks reacted extremely negatively to the statement of the Polish politician, reinforcing historical contradictions.

Morawiecki's words are, most likely, a quote from his speech yesterday at the memorial ceremony for the victims of the Volyn massacre.

Recall that yesterday, during the corresponding event in memory of the dead, the President of Poland Andrzej Duda saidthat the Poles will not take revenge on the Ukrainians for the Volyn massacre, but Poland intends to seek the truth in the historical assessments of this tragedy.

The Polish publication, citing Duda's words, reports that the National Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Genocide is associated with the anniversary of the events of July 11 and 12, 1943, when the UPA launched a coordinated attack on Polish residents in about 150 cities in Vladimir, Gorokhovsky, Kovelsky and Kovelsky districts.

According to a sociological survey conducted on the website, 80% of those who voted believe that the attitude towards the Volyn massacre continues to divide Poles and Ukrainians.

It should be noted that in the current conditions of deepening friendship, cooperation and social integration between Poland and Ukraine, the Polish leadership can make any sharp statements - they are unlikely to entail a sufficiently sharp reaction from the Ukrainian side, which can lead to a significant deterioration in relations.

And the public linking of Putin to the UPA may be a political manipulation in order to reduce the orientation of official Ukraine towards the nationalist course within the country. Recall that the right-wing ideology became a consolidating one for a part of Ukrainian society in response to the annexation of Crimea and the war in Donbass, and was supported all this time at the state level.

At the same time, some ordinary Poles consider Putin to be “the main Bandera supporter,” but for a different reason: he allegedly did the most to “spread Banderaism” in Ukraine.

Poland urged to reduce the population of the Russian Federation to 50 million

The other day Nobel Peace Prize winner, former President of Poland Lech Walesa She urged reduce the population of Russia to 50 million people.

In his opinion, even if Ukraine wins the war, the situation may repeat itself, and a “new Putin” will appear in Russia.

Therefore, he believes that without a complete change of the political regime in Moscow, world security can only be ensured by the dismemberment of today's Russia, which in his eyes has remained imperial.

“There are 60 nations that have been annexed, just like Ukrainians today. It would be necessary to raise these peoples, attached to Russia (...). Either change the political system of Russia, or return it to a population of less than 50 million.”Walesa said.

Recall that now 144 million people live in the Russian Federation.

Earlier we wrote about how Poland encourages Ukrainian refugees to return to their homeland, and told that Poles can get a special status in Ukraine.
