No one has seen the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, but they exist

The topic of hypothetical negotiations between Ukraine and Russia occupies one of the key places, both in the statements of world politicians and in the comments of the parties to the conflict. And all this is happening against the backdrop of ongoing massive Russian shelling of Ukrainian territoriesthat primarily affects the civilian population of the country, left without light, heat and water during the already cold season.

Another question is that some call for a return to a diplomatic settlement, while others categorically deny this possibility.

But in fact, as it turned out, negotiations are still underway. And if you believe to Reuters - then we are talking about a direct meeting of representatives of Kyiv and Moscow.

The news agency claims that last week, namely on November 17, such a meeting was held in United Arab Emirates. Sources reporting this point out that the parties condemned prisoner exchange and renewal export of Russian ammonia.

"They discussed allowing Russia to resume ammonia exports in exchange for a prisoner exchange that would release a large number of Ukrainian and Russian prisoners.", - Reuters quotes his interlocutor.

But who represented Ukraine and Russia and how exactly the negotiations ended is unknown. Most likely, the negotiations were mediated by the Emirates, and not by the UN, which is one of the central mediators in the grain negotiations.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey Vasily Bodnar confirmed to Reuters that "The release of Ukrainian prisoners of war is part of the negotiations to open the export of Russian ammonia." But whether there was a meeting in the UAE, the diplomat does not know.
