Many dead and dozens missing: a tragedy occurred in the Russian Federation at the Listvyazhnaya mine

Tragedy in Russia mine "Listvyazhnaya"that in the Kemerovo region. During work, a fire broke out inside, as a result of which, as of the evening of November 25, 11 miners died. Another 49 were injured and are in hospitals, four are in serious condition. Communication with 40 miners has not yet been established, they are considered missing. About it inform Russian media.

According to reports, the incident took place the night before, but they began to write about it this morning. It is already known that the fire inside the mine was preceded by an explosion. About it пишет Interfax.

"An explosion occurred in the ventilation drift at a depth of 250 meters. A fire followed. According to preliminary data, the version of equipment malfunction and natural causes came first", - said the source of the publication.

The media say that in total there were 285-287 people inside the mine. Most of them, after the start of the fire, independently climbed to the surface.

"The evacuation is underway. 75 miners did not leave. There is no connection with them. According to preliminary data, they independently rise to the surface", the news outlets reported this morning.

As of the current moment (16:00 Kyiv time), it is known about 11 dead, 49 injured and 40 missing, who do not get in touch from inside the mine. Unfortunately, this may indicate that the death toll will soon increase. However, there are also chances that the miners will be able to escape on their own - or they will be found by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The causes of the tragedy are still unknown. However, there is reason to believe that there was a banal gas leak, most likely methane. This provoked an explosion and a further fire. Law enforcement officers have already opened a criminal case on the fact of the tragedy and death of people.

Note that this is not the first such story at the Listvyazhnaya mine. In the past, similar incidents happened on it twice: in 1981 and in 2004. Then, due to the explosion of methane at a depth, people also died and fires occurred.
