According to Deputy Minister of Defense Anna Malyar, the Russians intend to reach the administrative border of the Donetsk region before the end of this year. Recall that fierce oncoming battles continue in the Bakhmut area, however, the advance of the Russian forces was insignificant and the Armed Forces of Ukraine manage to push them back. Also, the Russian troops, contrary to their intentions, failed to surround the city.

The Russian side did not publicly announce any deadlines for the seizure of the Donetsk region. At the same time, on December 24, the Institute for the Study of War stated slowdown of the Russian advance on Bakhmut.

The new commander of the Russian troops

Instead of Sergei Kuzovlev, who commanded the troops of the western military district of the Russian Federation and was part of the sphere of influence of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces Valeria Gerasimova, appointed Evgenia Nikiforova. And this is a candidate from the group of the creator of PMC "Wagner" Evgenia Prigozhina and current commander Sergei Surovikin - Prigogine's man.

Kuzovlev was in office for about a month. According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Nikiforov is now at the command post of the Zapad group of troops in Boguchar, Voronezh region.

This appointment can both correspond to the official version - the preparation of an offensive in the Limansky direction, and be a sign of internal political reshuffling in the top military leadership of the Russian Federation.

Liquidation of Ukrainians in Russia

Yesterday, the FSB of the Russian Federation reported that four Ukrainians were liquidated in the Bryansk region on the border with Russia. According to the Russian side, all of them could be a sabotage and reconnaissance group. The FSB added that they were armed with German SIG Sauer submachine guns and four improvised explosive devices with a capacity of approximately 40 kilograms of TNT. They also had communication and navigation devices.

• Yuri Gorovets Born in 1988, callsign "Svyatosha" (Russians called him the group commander);
• Maxim Mikhailov Born in 1990, call sign Nepiypivo;
• Taras Karpyuk Born in 1984, call sign "Tarasy";
• Bogdan Lyagov Born in 2003, call sign "Apollo".

They were all part of the Brotherhood Dmitry Korchinsky.

Roma family shot in Makiivka

In Makiivka, which is located in the part of the Donetsk region not controlled by Ukraine, a family of 8 Roma was shot yesterday. They shot from machine guns, killed with shots in the head. The oldest killed is 28 years old, the youngest is 10 years old.

Because of the murder, an interception plan was announced in the region. According to the Russian side, 3 previously convicted local residents were detained on suspicion of murder, who have already confessed: the crime was committed for their own mercenary motives. According to the Ukrainian side, the crime could have been committed by representatives of the Wagner PMC.

Detainees, if found guilty, may face capital punishment.

What was shelled in Ukraine?

Over the past day, the Russians launched 2 missile attacks on Ukraine and carried out 44 attacks from the MLRS.

Russian troops fired again Nikopol district of Dnepropetrovsk region from "Gradov" and heavy artillery. Several private houses and outbuildings were damaged, as well as two gas pipelines and the power grid.
