Colossal destruction: Ukrenergo declares an emergency, and in the Kyiv region they will turn off the lights with every air raid

Massive Russian shelling of the territory of Ukraine on December 16 led to serious consequences for the country's electric power infrastructure: more than 50% of the consumption of the Unified Energy System was lost. About it сообщили at Ukrenergo.

According to the company, the Transmission System Code defines what happened as a system failure. At the same time, in accordance with the Market Rules, Ukrenergo announced the occurrence of an emergency, starting from the billing period from 09:00 on December 16, 2022.

In connection with the shelling in several regions of Ukraine, emergency power outages are introduced.

The situation has become so complicated that the Kiev metro announced that today, December 16, the movement of metro trains will not be resumed. It is reported that they cannot start the movement due to a shortage of electricity.

“Colossal destruction” was also reported in Kharkov. Yes, mayor Igor Terekhov stated that, first of all, the destruction affected the energy system, asked the residents of the city to be patient with the situation and use the “Points of Invincibility”.

Lights will be turned off on every alarm.

Mayor of Irpin Alexander Markushin said that during air alerts, DTEK would start turning off electricity throughout the Kyiv region.

According to him, this will be done in order to avoid possible serious accidents. That is, if according to the schedule the light should be turned on, but there is an alarm, the light will not be turned on until the alarm is canceled.

Recall that earlier it was decided to stop all municipal public transport, except for underground, for the duration of the air raid: people are simply dropped off at stops and offered to go to shelter. At the same time, the movement of private modes of transport, including minibuses, continues.

76 missiles fired in Ukraine

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhny сообщилthat on December 16, Russia launched 76 missiles in Ukraine, 72 of which were cruise missiles (Kh-101, Caliber, Kh-22), 4 were guided missiles (Kh-59 / Kh-31P). 60 missiles were shot down.

And according to the Kyiv city military administration, more than 40 missiles were recorded near Kyiv, 37 of which were shot down. They added that information about the hits will be later.
