Dior condemned for tundra and snow-covered birches 

Fashion house Dior has released its new collection "CRUISE 2023". But the winter part of this collection caused a mixed reaction. In particular, another scandal erupted on Twitter due to the fact that subscribers saw in the style proposed by Dior, "Russian motives".

On the the official website The company's description of the collection does not say anything about the designer's appeal to the Russian style, but quite the contrary.

But on Twitter, speaking about the winter part of the new collection, Dior invites take a trip to the tundra.

But, as we remember from the school Geography course, tundra is not only in Russia, as well as in Canada and the United States, and the word itself comes from the Finnish tunturi, which means "treeless, bare hill".

The authors of some comments accused Dior of the fact that the European company thus indirectly supports Russia.

“Shame on Dior to advertise a country that the EU has recognized as a terrorist country? commentators were outraged. 

Other netizens agreed that there were "Russian motives" in the advertisements, but said they did not consider this a cause for criticism, noting that birch trees grow in many countries, so it would be an exaggeration to consider the advertisement "pro-Russian".

But, perhaps, the most unexpected thing was that a subscriber from China saw far from Russian style in the collection, accusing the French fashion house of stealing “Chinese culture”

"Dior, stop stealing culture and apologize immediately. Are you French people in a hurry, are you eager to pass on Chinese culture to the white Asian dog Korea?", - says a comment from China.

As for Dior itself, the situation there has not yet been commented on. And they are unlikely to. What did the designer want to emphasize with this style, they have already outlined, and if guided by fears that this or that design and entourage may cause different associations in some part of the people, then can creativity be put an end to? 

In the end, despite the presence of some clear elements that emphasize the belonging of the style to a particular country and culture, during the existence of the fashion industry, styles have mixed and borrowed the brightest ideas from each other.
