Also, part of the streets will be named after members of the OUN-UPA and figures of Ukrainian culture.

Kyiv on the agenda

It is noted that the Kyiv City Council supported the renaming of a number of city objects, regarding which the necessary procedures have already been carried out, but their names have not yet been announced.

“In Kyiv, there are still dozens of streets and objects with names associated with the aggressor. Their renaming is relevant. Therefore, we are developing new names for streets, avenues, metro stations and other objects. We have allocated time for these procedures until May 9th. We will process the package and make a comprehensive decision at a meeting of the Kyiv City Council”- said the mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko.

At the same time, the deputy head of the KSCA Nikolai Povoroznik noted that the city supports and appreciates such initiatives, but at the same time clarified that the decision on dismantling still needs to be made in the legal field: this should be done by the Kyiv City Council.

Recall that earlier the staff of the National Academic Theater of Russian Drama named after Lesya Ukrainka decided to remove the mention of “Russian drama” from the name, and Russian works, including “Eugene Onegin”, disappeared from the repertoire of the National Opera of Ukraine.

De-Russification of education
